The Conservative Lesbian

Not every Gay person is a flaming liberal!

Republimat or Demoblican?

While I have made no secret of my conservative views (after all, I am The Conservative Lesbian), I’m really not happy with being labeled a Republican. I don’t share the Republican opinion on a variety of topics, most prominently Gay issues. The GOP has also presided over the largest increase of the Federal Government ever, both in size and spending. Of course I don’t really like the Democrats, either, because of their general over-coddling worldview and seeming disdain for things like freedom and liberty. I kind of like the Libertarians, except their party platform contains such gems as repealing all drug laws, eliminating zoning ordnances, and disengaging from nearly all world affairs. I consider myself a supporter of the constitution, and the Constitution party would get us out of the United Nations (a stinkhole of an organization if there ever was), but according to their platform statement on Family, well, they’d probably just burn all Gay people at the stake. Oh, and then there is the Green Party, who are just Democrats who don’t like Democrats. Clearly, no party really represents my views.

So, what are my views and what would my party look like? Herewith is some of my platform:

  • Flat federal income tax: everyone pays their share.
  • National Domestic Partnership – Same thing as Gay Marriage, but just doesn’t use the word “Marriage” to avoid the freakout.
  • Eliminate all national gun control – Gun control is citizen control and simply does not stop crime.
  • Violent felony “three strikes and your out” law – lock up violent repeat offenders so they never prey on society again.
  • Bring back the draft – Freedom is not free, and every American should learn that first hand for a year; Objectors could go into the Peace Corps.
  • Shrink Federal Government and shift responsibility back to the states – Government is waaaay toooo biiiiig (Watch this space for a list of do-nothing agencies I would dump).
  • Term limits for the House of Representatives – The house was designed as a way for the common person to serve in the nations goverment, and lack of term limits has made the House into an elitist club. Term limits would change that.
  • Budget – Balance it. Period.
  • I support a constitutional amendment to the effect that the President must have served in the military for at least two years. How can you possibly understand what it means to commit American troops to fight and die on foreign soil without having ever served yourself?

Whaddya think?

  1. How about Libertarian? The fly in the ointment in this country is the idea that we’re somehow limited to a two party system. Neither of the dominant parties suits me, and Libertarians are a little too loose with environmental/quality of life concerns for my taste. More than anything, I hate being forced into a box.

  2. I totally agree with that and i’m a 28 year old lesbian who is registered democrat but voted for ron paul in 2008 and george w. bush in 2004. The only thing i would like to add (and i realize this is a huge controversary- as a woman and a member of the LGBT community). stop abortion or at least just when medically necessary or rape and incest.

Becky, you are not alone! I am very pro-life, too, with the exceptions you note above. Conservative lesbians DO exist!!
